Annie Leibovitz (Waterbury, Connecticut, 1949) es una de las fotógrafas más influyentes del panorama contemporáneo internacional. Primera mujer en exponer en la Galería Nacional de Retratos de Washington D. C., su obra ha redefinido el retrato editorial y la representación de la cultura visual contemporánea. Ha colaborado con publicaciones como Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair y Vogue, consolidándose como una de las fotógrafas mejor remuneradas del mundo.
A lo largo de su carrera ha recibido numerosos reconocimientos, entre ellos el premio de Fotógrafa del Año de la Asociación Estadounidense de Editores de Revistas (1984), el premio Clio por la campaña de American Express (1988) y el título de “Leyenda viviente” otorgado por la Biblioteca del Congreso de Estados Unidos en 2000. En 2013 fue galardonada con el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de Comunicación y Humanidades.
Su práctica se centra principalmente en el retrato de celebridades, aunque también ha desarrollado trabajos documentales y paisajísticos. Desde 1993 colabora con Condé Nast Publications, y sus imágenes son distribuidas por Contact Press Images desde finales de los años setenta.

She has worked for major publications such as Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and Vogue, establishing herself as one of the highest-paid photographers in the world.
Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including Photographer of the Year from the American Society of Magazine Editors (1984), the Clio Award for the American Express campaign (1988), and the title of “Living Legend” awarded by the Library of Congress in 2000. In 2013, she received the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities.
Leibovitz is best known for her iconic celebrity portraits, although she has also worked in documentary and landscape photography. Since 1993, she has been contracted by Condé Nast Publications, and her work has been represented by Contact Press Images since the late 1970s.
