PHotoESPAÑA seeks to expand the notion of photography with this new programme, and to show the extraordinary creativity and diversity of the visual artistic practice consolidated since the beginning of the millennium both inside and outside our borders. Society is inherent to the photographic act: making and seeing images responds to a collective impulse. In fact, photography is no longer limited to representing the environment, but constructs and deconstructs it. The appropriate question today is not what photography is, but what it can become.

PHotoESPAÑA proposes a possible answer to this question: perpetual movement. Photography is a dynamic, fluid, inexhaustible medium, in permanent transformation. For this reason, the Festival wishes to draw special attention to new practices, formats and channels for the creation and making of images.

PHotoESPAÑA proposes to Fundación Telefónica a series of three meetings at Espacio Fundación Telefónica Madrid that will reflect on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of visual arts, together with key creators and professionals in this field.

In the first part of this session, dedicated to generative photography, we will have Feileacan McCormick, a visual artist of Norwegian origin whose work explores organic life and its evolution through AI. During his intervention, McCormick will talk about his most recent projects, particularly the one he has developed together with Sofía Crespo for this edition of PHotoESPAÑA and that he will present next September at the National Museum and Research Center of Altamira.

Then, Mercedes Hausmann and Jorge Salgado will develop live work, during a jam session in which they will have the opportunity to interact with prompts generated by the public.
