Since its inception, one of PHotoESPAÑA’s main objectives has been to expand beyond traditional exhibition spaces, bringing photography to the streets and sharing the enthusiasm for this discipline with the general public. In this context, the Festival and Starbucks have partnered for the first time to transform the windows of a central Starbucks store into an exhibition space that will surprise passersby who walk the streets of Madrid every day. Through this urban intervention, Starbucks not only enhances its visibility within the cultural sphere but also becomes a key player in promoting photography among its customers and visitors to the city.

For this first outdoor intervention, the featured artist is Txema Salvans (Barcelona, 1971), a documentary photographer trained at the International Center of Photography in New York. Salvans uses a large-format camera to explore the settings of leisure in contemporary society, seeking to heighten the sense of amused strangeness they evoke. His perspective remains deliberately distant, allowing the broader scene and its environment to take precedence over individual subjects and their expressions.
