wan Baan (n. 1975, Países Bajos) es un fotógrafo documental conocido por su aproximación a la arquitectura a través de la vida que la habita. Su práctica desplaza la imagen del edificio como objeto aislado para centrarla en las relaciones, usos y narrativas cotidianas que se generan en el espacio construido. Formado en la Royal Academy of Art de La Haya, ha desarrollado una mirada influida por la fotografía documental y la observación social.
Su trabajo ha sido ampliamente reconocido internacionalmente, incluyendo su colaboración en Torre David / Gran Horizonte, proyecto distinguido con el León de Oro en la Bienal de Arquitectura de Venecia en 2012. A través de encargos, publicaciones y proyectos editoriales, su obra ha contribuido a redefinir la fotografía de arquitectura como un relato humano y contextual del espacio contemporáneo.
Iwan Baan (b. 1975, Netherlands) is a documentary photographer known for his approach to architecture through the life that inhabits it. His practice shifts the focus from buildings as isolated objects to the relationships, uses, and everyday narratives that emerge within the built environment. Trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, his work is shaped by documentary photography and social observation.
His work has received international recognition, including his collaboration on Torre David / Gran Horizonte, awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012. Through commissions, publications, and editorial projects, his practice has helped redefine architectural photography as a human and contextual narrative of contemporary space.
