PHotoESPAÑA y la Librería La Fábrica organizan una firma de libros con el fotógrafo Joel Meyerowitz, uno de los fotógrafos más destacados de su generación, pionero en el uso del color que redefinió la forma de captar y comunicar la realidad con una cámara.
Un viaje por Europa en 1966-1967, especialmente su estancia en Málaga, España, fue fundamental en su desarrollo artístico. Durante ese recorrido, tomó más de 25,000 fotografías en diez países.
A lo largo de su carrera, Meyerowitz ha recibido numerosos reconocimientos, incluyendo dos becas Guggenheim y la Medalla del Centenario de la Royal Photographic Society en 2012, y su obra se encuentra en colecciones de instituciones como el Museum of Modern Art y el International Center of Photography.
Una oportunidad única de conocer al autor de los libros Joel Meyerowitz. Europa 1966-1967, que narra el viaje del fotógrafo norteamericano por Europa a través de una selección de más de doscientas imágenes que se apoyan en textos de Lorenzo Braca quien, a modo de conversación, y de Joel Meyerowitz: ¿en color?, un libro de reflexiones del propio Meyerowitz que comienza con una cuestión de la fotografía: ¿elegir utilizar el formal y académico blanco y negro o, en cambio, decantarse por el popular y más realista color?.
Este encuentro estará abierto al público hasta completar aforo.
PHotoESPAÑA and Librería La Fábrica organize a book signing with photographer Joel Meyerowitz, one of the most outstanding photographers of his generation, a pioneer in the use of color who redefined the way of capturing and communicating reality with a camera.
A trip through Europe in 1966-1967, especially his stay in Malaga, Spain, was fundamental in his artistic development. During that tour, he took more than 25,000 photographs in ten countries.
Throughout his career, Meyerowitz has received numerous awards, including two Guggenheim Fellowships and the Centennial Medal of the Royal Photographic Society in 2012, and his work is in the collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art and the International Center of Photography.
A unique opportunity to meet the author of the books Joel Meyerowitz. Europe 1966-1967, which chronicles the American photographer’s journey through Europe through a selection of more than two hundred images supported by texts by Lorenzo Braca who, as a conversation, and Joel Meyerowitz: in color?, a book of reflections by Meyerowitz himself that begins with a question of photography: to choose to use the formal and academic black and white or, instead, to opt for the popular and more realistic color?
