Siempre suelo mirar hacia adelante una vez terminado cada proyecto realizado. Vuelco toda mi energía hacia un nuevo lugar donde viajar, donde convivir con la gente, donde aprender de su modo de vida y costumbres, donde descubrir mundos desconocidos para mí.
Cuando Mattias me hizo el ofrecimiento de poder enseñar en las paredes de su galería una selección de fotografías y videos entre las que estaban algunas por las que previamente él había demostrado su predilección, comprobé que la mayoría se referían a los proyectos que realicé en Latinoamérica y, de este modo, sentí la necesidad de rendir un pequeño tributo al continente que me vio nacer y en el que he desarrollado cuatro de mis trabajos: La Rinconada, una mina en Ananea, Perú, las tribus Wayúu en la Guajira Colombiana, el viaje al desierto de Atacama en el norte de mi país, Chile y las mujeres de la región Mexicana del Valle del Mezquital.
I always tend to look ahead once each project is completed. I pour all my energy into a new place to travel to, to live with the people, to learn from their way of life and customs, to discover worlds that are unknown to me.
When Mattias offered me the opportunity to exhibit a selection of photographs and videos on the walls of his gallery—some of which he had previously shown a particular fondness for—I realized that most of them were related to projects I had carried out in Latin America. In that moment, I felt the need to pay a small tribute to the continent where I was born and where I have developed four of my works: La Rinconada, a mine in Ananea, Peru; the Wayúu tribes in the Colombian Guajira; the journey to the Atacama Desert in the north of my country, Chile; and the women of the Mezquital Valley region in Mexico.
