El proyecto anual Cuaderno de Campo plantea un programa de tres años que dirige la mirada a los espacios naturales de los Reales Sitios del Patrimonio Nacional y que se realiza en colaboración con ACCIONA y PHotoESPAÑA, tres instituciones que comparten el compromiso con el medio ambiente y su protección. Para ello, se contará con la colaboración de fotógrafos consagrados del panorama español cuya práctica y sensibilidad artística esté relacionadas con la naturaleza y el territorio.
El Cuaderno de Campo Nº1. Los ingenios del agua, se desarrolla con Javier Vallhonrat, Premio Nacional de Fotografía 1995, y está dedicado a La Granja de San Ildefonso, que en 2024 conmemora los 300 años de su creación por Felipe V.
En este Real Sitio la canalización, explotación y disfrute de los recursos hídricos son protagonistas principales desde su fundación y han marcado la personalidad del entorno a lo largo de los siglos, mostrando de forma especialmente bella la sabia intervención humana en la naturaleza y el paisaje.
El sistema hidráulico original sigue en funcionamiento y canaliza las aportaciones de los arroyos Morete, Carneros, Los Neveros, Chorranca y Peñalara al estanque denominado «El Mar», donde se regula el abastecimiento y que, situado en la parte alta de los jardines, alimenta las fuentes y permite los espectaculares chorros y juegos de agua que caracterizan los jardines.
Las actuaciones tendrán varias sedes. Entre junio y septiembre se instalará una exposición de fotografías en los jardines del Campo del Moro. Entre septiembre y diciembre se instalará una exposición de fotografías de Javier Vallhonrat en el Palacio de La Granja, donde se presentará la primera publicación de esta serie de cuadernos de campo.
The annual Field Notebook project has planned a three-year programme which directs our eyes at the natural spaces in the Royal National Heritage Sites. The programme is being organised in conjunction with ACCIONA and PhotoEspaña, three institutions that share a commitment to the environment and its protection. To do so, they have enlisted the collaboration of renowned Spanish photographers whose practice and artistic sensibility are related to nature and the territory.
Field Notebooks No. 1. Water Contraptions was developed with Javier Vallhonrat, the 1995 National Photography Award winner, and it is devoted to La Granja de San Ildefonso, which is commemorating 300 years since it was created by Philip V in 2024.
At this Royal Site, the channelling, use and enjoyment of water resources have been a centrepiece ever since it was founded and have marked the personality of the environs over the centuries, as a case in which judicious human intervention in nature and the landscape is particularly beautiful.
The original hydraulic system is still operating and channels the water coming in from the Morete, Carneros, Los Neveros, Chorranca and Peñalara streams to the pond called ‘El Mar’, where the supply is regulated. Plus, given that it is located on the same level as the gardens, it supplies water for the fountains and allows for the spectacular jets and water shows that characterise the gardens.
The actions are being held at several sites. Between June and September, a photography exhibition will be installed in the gardens of Campo del Moro. Between September and December, a photography exhibition by Javier Vallhonrat will be installed in the Palacio de La Granja, where the first publication in this series of field notebooks will be presented.
