El proyecto, que Joan Fontcuberta (Barcelona, 1955) presentará en Naves de Gamazo reunirá una selección de sus trabajos recientes, varios de ellos inéditos.
La propuesta se centra en sus trabajos con Inteligencia Artificial de los últimos dos años. Se presentará un recorrido por su obra actual, con propuestas de narrativas visuales que tienen la representación de la Naturaleza como terreno preferente, un territorio en el que confluyen la experiencia poética con la reflexión conceptual, condimentado con constantes guiños a la ficción.
La exposición cuestiona la relación entre imagen y palabra, pero también el propio statu quo de la fotografía. La insistencia en este cuestionamiento es el hilo conductor de su trayectoria. Ahogados ante la apabullante saturación de imágenes que vivimos hoy, su trabajo nos pone en alerta para que no bajemos la guardia ante su potente poder de seducción. La invasión de imágenes falsas a modo de censura encubierta es puesta en evidencia.
En la Tercera Revolución Visual estamos asistiendo al nacimiento de un nuevo régimen de la mirada, un cambio de paradigma, en el que Fontcuberta es un referente, como destacado representante de la post-fotografía.
Sema D’Acosta, el comisario de la exposición, es especialista en fotografía del siglo XXI y, en concreto, en la obra de Joan Fontcuberta, es investigador de la aplicación de la IA al arte y ha acuñado el neologismo «nexo tipo«, un término genérico para nombrar la nueva categoría de imágenes que han nacido ahora y nadie sabe bien cómo tratarlas o llamarlas.
En la sexta edición, el Premio Trayectoria de Fundación ENAIRE se ha concedido a Joan Fontcuberta, un referente de la fotografía.
Para conceder este Premio, en fecha 19 de febrero de 2025, se reunió el Jurado compuesto por José Manuel Ballester, María Santoyo, Daniel Canogar, así como por Ángeles Imaña, directora de Conservación y Proyectos Culturales de Fundación ENAIRE, en calidad de Secretaria del Jurado y Margarita Asuar, directora gerente de Fundación ENAIRE, en calidad de presidenta del Jurado por delegación del Presidente del Patronato de la Fundación ENAIRE, el Secretario de Estado de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible, José Antonio Santano. La decisión por unanimidad fue conceder el Premio Trayectoria 2025 a Joan Fontcuberta.
The project that Joan Fontcuberta (Barcelona, 1955) will present at Naves de Gamazo brings together a selection of his recent works, several of them unpublished.
The proposal focuses on his work with Artificial Intelligence over the past two years. It presents a journey through his current body of work, with proposals of visual narratives that center on the representation of Nature as a preferred terrain—a space where poetic experience meets conceptual reflection, seasoned with constant nods to fiction.
The exhibition questions the relationship between image and word, but also the status quo of photography itself. The persistence in this line of inquiry is the common thread of his career. Overwhelmed by the massive image saturation we experience today, his work sounds the alarm so we don’t let our guard down against their powerful seductive power. The invasion of fake images, acting as a form of covert censorship, is brought to light.
In the context of the Third Visual Revolution, we are witnessing the emergence of a new regime of vision, a paradigm shift, in which Fontcuberta stands as a reference point, a prominent figure in post-photography.
Sema D’Acosta, the exhibition curator, is a specialist in 21st-century photography and, specifically, in the work of Joan Fontcuberta. He is a researcher on the application of AI to art and has coined the neologism «nexo type«, a generic term to describe the new category of images that have now emerged, which no one quite knows how to treat or name.
In its sixth edition, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fundación ENAIRE has been awarded to Joan Fontcuberta, a leading figure in photography.
To grant this award, on February 19, 2025, the jury convened, composed of José Manuel Ballester, María Santoyo, Daniel Canogar, along with Ángeles Imaña, Director of Conservation and Cultural Projects at Fundación ENAIRE, acting as Jury Secretary, and Margarita Asuar, Managing Director of Fundación ENAIRE, acting as Jury President by delegation of the President of Fundación ENAIRE’s Board of Trustees, the Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, José Antonio Santano. The unanimous decision was to grant the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award to Joan Fontcuberta.
